Having a name that has an unusual spelling, can be a great ice breaker. After being asked how my name is pronounced, it is usually followed up with "I like the way it's spelled". Unfortunately, I can not take credit for the spelling. That's entirely owed to my immigrant parents.
In school, I always knew when my name was going to be called. There was always a slight hesitation by the teacher and that was my clue to chime in.
Moving from Illinois to Arizona in 1996, also change the way my name was mispronounced. Then Siri came along and added yet another spin.
